The Coffeebots love crazy tech-projects, cool recycling ideas, open communities, old trains, music and blinkenlights – or for short: Hacker-Culture.
So before you ask: YES! We will be at the Chaos Communication Camp this summer (actually next week). We will be showing our film on Day 2 at the Marktplatz (22:15h). Fahrplan
Uhhh, and we might just free our film to the public on that night! (yes, on the internet – for the community, to download…) Stay tuned for details!
And now it looks like we might as well do a small live gig at Hacken, dass…? on Day 3 (also at Marktplatz, 22h). Fahrplan
We’re happy to announce another screening of our movie. Since we are talking free licences, the patent wars and making information public, Wikimedia is the perfect place to dicuss these issues. (Even if it may turn out teaching to the converted =;-))
And of course we are serious about these ideas and so our play is published under a Creative Commons Licence. The script and a high resolution version of the film and will be available for download soon. (Propably in late August, after there will be another screening at the Chaos Communication Camp).
So, see you on August 11th, 18h at Wikimedia, Tempelhofer Ufer 23/24, 10963 Berlin (Near Technikmuseum, U-Bhf Möckernbrücke)
Healthy and happy new year to all you puppet fans out there!
Next chance to see our coffeebots movie will be on February 1st at the Madonna Bar in Kreuzberg (Wiener Strasse 22, 10999 Berlin) on Spreewaldplatz near the Görlitzer Park, opposite the swimming pool. Starting eight o clock – Free Entry!
Madonna is a pretty legendary bar that is existing since 1984 in the heart of Kreuzberg, having been a living room for a ton of musicians, artists and all kinds of the local crowd. There are over 250 whiskeys to discover, 150 kinds of rum and quite a selection of beer from tap. Since football is shown there on a regular base, we find a large screen, a decent video-projector and a nice sound system, which makes it perfect for a screening. Oh, and smoking is still allowed – but with new air-filters you don’t have the smoke clouds from former decasdes in there.
Full disclosure: I spent over 20 years behind the bar, financing my university and years of being unemployed. I met quite a few of my best friends and hundereds of nice people there and got to know the punkrock- and dive-bar-scene around Wiener Strasse since the mid nineties…
We had a great premiere in the c-base mainhall with free sparkling wine, popcorn, fancy dresses and a great audience. Thanks to everybody who joined us that night, clapped and shouted in their commentaries! After a small live performance by our favourite lip-syncing bots we watched the first official screening of „Never Mind …“ – Due to being seriously under time pressure before christmas it was also the first time the puppeteers and helpers were able to see the (almost final) version of the film. And of course all the people involved (and were healthy that night) came on stage.
And afterwards DJane Euphoria made sure we danced the rest of the night….

Only about a week later we had the honour of screening the film at the HiP conference in front of a room full of nerds, digital rights activists and security pros. Since we do have a few pretty nerdy and IT-related jokes in there, it worked just as well…
If you are interested in a screening at your favourite hackerspace, off-cinema, cultural center, etc – let us know and write a mail to coffeebots (ät) e-punk.de Maybe you anything about interesting puppet or film-festivals, also please let us know!
We are delighted to present to you our most recent work “Never mind the gig work… here’s the Coffebots!” It’s a marionette puppet extravaganza full of robots, coffee, and algorithmic capitalism. A punk rock space opera!
Follow our brave little coffeebots and their struggle against the system. Fly with us to the end of the universe to fight the big bad endboss.
World Film Premiere Gala: December 17th 2022, 20:00 CET at c-base, Berlin. You are all invited in your finest evening gown for a full evening with a movie screening, exclusive interviews, as well as lots of extra features and surprises! And of course there will be popcorn! Afterwards, we can party all night with DJ Euphoria spinning the hottest mp3s!
Our play will use the language of the Internet: Easy English with heavy accents and lots of technobabble. It is the reconstruction of the filmed version of a puppet play that was never performed. The completion of a work long in the making, and it turned out to be a movie, in the end. The coffeebots and those that pull their strings will be present and perform that evening. Expect more greatness from the puppets soon.
Please be future compatible.
Wir freuen uns, euch unser neuestes Werk „Never mind the gig work… here’s the Coffebots!“ zu präsentieren.
The Coffeebots will premiere the first part of „Never Mind the Gig Work…“ at the Congress (äh, actually: Remote Chaos Experience) rC3 on December 29. 2021 – 22:00h in the c-base stream.
YES! IT IS THE WORLD PREMIERE of our marionette puppet extravaganza full of robots, coffee, punkrock space shanties, and algorithmic capitalism. In the language of the Internet: Easy English with heavy accents and lots of technobabble. It will be the first of three acts that we videotaped at the c-base with the c-atre collectivdrama in december 2021. Acts two and three will follow and hopefully we can go live on stage with a real audience in the spring of 2022.
Thanks to Robert Reckin for the music, excds for re-recording and re-mixing our voices and cven for his work as lighting technician and camera operator!

Roboexotica is a great festival for cocktailrobotics happening since 1999. It tookplace for the first time in Linz this year organized by the artist collective dh5. Well, we thought that would be the perfect place for the Coffeebots to play, followed the call for robots and got invited. So we paused the work on the upcoming theatre play (Yes, it will be a Sci-Fi story) and put together a program packed with songs about longdrinks, booze and cocktails and started rehearsing.
Beginning of September johl and e-punc got the Bots ready for the journey and boarded the train. Arriving in Linz we got a warm welcome by the great people at culture space „Damen & Herrenstraße 5“. So here’s a shoutout to the cocktail-robots and their makers:
„The Borg Cube“
„Moscow Mule to go“ portable wodka & gingerbeer mixer for the mobil robotica
„Prostate Hero“ oil up your finger earn your drink!
„Shot ‚em Up“ Shoot 10 bottles before time runs out and win one of four different longdrinks
„Vodka Roulette“ Get a shot of water or vodka depending on your luck
„Kaffeemaschine mit Schuss“
„Dirty Wurstino“ Martini with a shot of Wurstwasser and a tiny sausage
„Old Sparky“ Sausage-electrocution
„Tankie“ face recognizing pet-tank
„Lounge Music Machine“ by Mitch Altman playing songs and writing lyrics especially for you
It’s the end of the pandemic year 2020 so the Coffeebots chose a wonderful christmas-song by one of the greatest bands ever to sing-a-long: Fairytale of New York by The Pogues Of course the filming took place considering the social distancing rules and it kind of matches the beautiful lyrics. Thanks a lot to Miriam who helped puppeteering and filming.
Whish you all nice and relaxed holidays and a geat 2021!
